Feedback Report
I have collated five pieces of feedback from different sources in response to my project launch. I have identified three actions that I will take from this feedback to refine my services.
I collated feedback from two of my clients, Jack Torrance, an external client, and Amy McHale, who is an internal client at Riverside. I provided session musician services to Jack Torrance, performing at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut, and recorded his first single, "Reminisce". I also provided session musician services to Amy McHale, playing on her recording "endlessly". Further feedback was collated from Gordon Wilson, a professional session drummer, Abigail Berry, who is also a student in year 2 of my course, and finally my external music theory tutor, Sam Clark.
-
Jack Torrance commented on the quality of my service as a session drummer and said, “You have added really interesting drum arrangements to my songs alongside performing really well at my gigs."
-
Amy McHale commented "that she enjoyed the dynamic range of my drumming" provided for her track.
-
My external drum tutor and professional session drummer, Gordon Wilson, looked at the promotion element of my project, reviewing the videos I had posted on my Instagram account. He commented that “due to the attention span of the viewers being quite short while browsing online, I would recommend that you post shorter videos that are under a minute in length to capture more engagement from the audience."
-
Abigail Berry, who is a singer on Year 2 of my course, provided feedback on the price of my services as a session drummer as per the standard Musicians' Union rates. She commented that "I should reduce this hourly rate to begin with while I am building up my reputation and become better known."
-
My external music theory tutor, Sam Clark, looked at my online promotion presence on YouTube. He commented as follows: “You are promoting four genres of music in your project, indie rock, alternative rock, pop, and hard rock, you should make it clear to clients that you can play a wide range of genres over and above these four genres."
Considering these five sources of feedback, I will implement three actions derived from the feedback moving forward to refine my project. These are :
-
I will produce shorter video content to maintain viewers’ attention on Instagram.
-
I will charge a slightly lower fee for my session drumming for recording sessions than suggested by the Musicians' Union while I build my reputation.
-
I will promote a diverse range of genres on my online social media sites to highlight that I can play a wide range of genres in addition to the four main genres stated.
